Review: The Lying Game
The show is about twin sisters, Sutton and Emma, which were adopted when they were babies. Sutton is adopted by a wealthy family while Emma lives with various foster families bordering poverty, and has an abusing step-brother. Sutton knows that she was adopted, but does not know about the existence of her twin sister.
When she learns about having a sister, Sutton gets help from a friend, finds Emma and proposes her to take her place for a few days while she seeks their biological mother together. Emma takes Sutton's place but soon learns that Sutton has disappeared and may be in trouble. Left alone, Sutton doesn’t know what to do. Should she reveal her true identity to her sister's adoptive parents so they can find out where she disappeared as well as look into why they were separated at birth, or keep the secret longer and act as Sutton?
Emma immediately falls in love with her new family: loving parents, the friendly sister, loyal friends. She also falls in love with Sutton's secret boyfriend. Everyone loves her as well because Emma is not self conceited, picky and constantly dissatisfied, as Sutton is. After a while, Sutton comes back, and she is not ready to make a place in her life for Emma.
The story is not particularly original, and you can find other series dealing with things like the rich, uppish, secretive twin meets the good, forgiving, poor twin brother lost at birth. Furthermore, the boys in the series seem all as somewhat secondary characters. Nevertheless, there’s nothing terribly bad to say about this show. The idea of the series seems pretty good; the actors play pretty well, and this makes the show worth your attention.
