Review: Jane by Design
Seventeen years old Jane Quimby is a teenager hired at a design firm. Everyone there, which includes her boss that hired her, think that she is an adult. So she must be present at school and also at work, but these two activities often overlap. This is where her best friend Billy steps in. They are best friends since childhood, and he is the only one who knows her secret and helps her out.
The series heavily focuses on their relationship as friends, and you can observe their relationship evolution throughout the episodes.
After the death of their father, Jane was left in the care of her brother, who was forced to become a responsible grown up and quit college to find a job in order to support his family. The problem is he wasn't able been able to find anything, all the employers refusing him.
Jane is socially invisible at her high school, unlike her brother Ben, who is a star, and who throws parties very often. Along with her new job, a new bright but also deceiving world is immediately interjecting in the young girl's life, a world that makes her not to feel invisible or rejected anymore. The small tricks and secret relationships that Jane notices at work make her realize a high school atmosphere is preserved everywhere.
In Jane by Design, you can find that innocence that teenagers today do not seem to have any more. The term 'heart-warming' is the best one to describe this series because it simply warms your heart, makes you smile and remember that high school and adolescence have their magical moments.
