Review: Fallen
Nephilims are half angel and half men, and Powers, mighty angel fighters are hunting them down trying to kill each one of the so called abominations. Their only hope comes from a prophecy according to which a Nephilim will be born and will save them. This prophecy proves to be true as 18 years old Aaron learns about his abilities and fights against Powers.
Tom and Lori Stanley adopt a teenager, their natural son being autistic. Aaron is introduced the day he becomes 18, a pretty busy day. Aaron receives presents, notices that the girl of his dreams is interested in him, he starts talking to his dog, and then discovers that he can in fact speak all languages; this is when all the fun begins.
There’s not much to the flaming swords and the wings on the angels, but the series manages to captivate despite poor special effects. I didn’t really get why God sends his angels to kill Nephilims, but I guess it has something to do with their parents committing a sin by falling in love and having kids. Michael, the Archangel states that the Powers actually misunderstood their mission but even so they continue hunting Nephilims down and Aaron proves to be their only hope. At this point, once he learns about the prophecy and that he is the one to fulfill it, Aaron leaves his family and start fighting Powers.
Verdict:
The mini series started airing back in 2006 on ABC and has 3 parts. The show is based on Thomas Sniegoski’s novels The Fallen and makes for quite an entertaining fantasy action series all the family can enjoy.
