So i brought an android TV stick running Android 4.0
I have set it up and installed XBMC etc. The problem i have is that it came with a controller that is completely shitty and only works half the time. So i was wanting to operate the stick using my android phone or tablet.
Any help appreciated.

You have a couple of options. If your TV stick has bluetooth then just search playstore for bluetooth controllers.
Another good option is Airdroid - AirDroid is a fast, free app that lets you wirelessly manage your Android from your favorite browser. Download link from Play store here (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sand.airdroid).

Why not just use the XBMC remote app. That will work once you have XBMC running but will not control the android os and running apps etc.

Droidmote is a good one. But you need to download a server version on the Android tv device and a server version on your phone. It's not free though, costs a couple of bucks.
