With the final instalment of the Harry Potter series (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2) being released on Friday to the world’s viewers (following a star-studded global premiere of the film in London (England) last Thursday), YouTube are not the only company to get on board with showing the franchise’s official productions.
As part of Virgin Media’s deal to have their services powered byAmerican DVR giant TiVo, the digital TV platform is releasing an official Harry Potter ‘app’ in its ‘Virgin Media TiVo Apps and Games’ section to celebrate the release of Deathly Hallows Part 2.
Producers of the the app, which is being made with content provided by Warner Bros Pictures, claims to be celebrating “the epic journey Harry and his friends have taken since they arrived at Hogwarts.”
Virgin Media’s ‘digital entertainment executive director’, Cindy Rose, said of the new app: “There is no better way to celebrate the hugely successful Harry Potter series than by giving fans cherished footage of the stars that have made Hogwarts a household name. The Virgin Media TiVo service presents a whole new digital entertainment experience for consumers who want more from their TV, and this app is a magnificent example of the unique services we’re capable of delivering.”
