Decoding The Samsung Gear 2 Neo

When people talk about “smartwatch” what comes to your mind? But before we answer that in detail, let us first understand what a smartwatch is in the first place. A smartwatch is like a smartphone, only it’s been design to function more like a watch with added features of a smartphone. So, it’s safe to say that it’s a hybrid of the two devices that came before it.

Decoding the Samsung Gear 2 NeoThe smartwatch sports most smartphone-like functions including connecting to the internet, messaging via text, making calls, weather updates, fitness monitoring capabilities and more; however, some smartwatches have other features that smartphones don’t. One smartwatch that stands out from the rest – and I would most definitely recommend – is the Samsung Gear 2 Neo. Why you say? Well here are some details that I like about the said smartwatch.

Samsung Smart TVs Are Inserting Forced Ads Into Users Streaming Content

The Samsung Group is making even more waves in the media only days after being accused of having “spying Smart TVs.” Apparently, a new concern has come about as annoying and unwanted advertisements are being forcibly inserted right into video streaming applications by the Smart TVs themselves, without any type of influence from the 3rd-party providers of the apps.

Samsung Smart TVThe newest reports about Samsung Smart TVs claim that these latest complaints all began with a advertisement for Pepsi that began appearing while content was being streamed via Smart TV applications from both video streaming services as well as users’ personal media libraries.

Plex streaming service, which is a name brand media player device that lets its users stream their own video media from either their hard drives or personal media libraries and view it via their Smart TV, has reported having issues with the “inserted” advertisements as well.

One Plex user’s complaint reported that every 10 to 15 minutes, a Pepsi advertisement would appear while they were viewing content on their Samsung Smart TV. They went on to add that they were sometimes able to “get out” of the ad and return to their content, but at other times, the ad would freeze the user’s streaming app and force the TV to restart.

Another Plex user has reported that their Samsung Smart TV is stopping about halfway through a movie or show and showed a muted advertisement for Pepsi. They went on to add that the media streaming app does not experience the same issue when playing on other platforms such as tablets, PCs or PS4 devices.

Also, the largest provider of Pay TV in Australia, a company called Foxtel, has customers reporting similar incidents on their Samsung Smart TVs. The Pepsi ads are popping up while customers are using the Foxtel media streaming app, which is actually built into the Samsung SmartHub interface

Customers have been reporting a 16:9-sized Pepsi ad appear and takes up about ½ of their Samsung TV screen. It then freezes the Foxtel app like some sort of TV popup ad. Foxtel immediately responded to its customers and quickly escalated the issue to Samsung.

Samsung claims that the Australian ad problem the result of a Samsung TV software error due to a recent update that was “not intended for the Australian market.” The company apologized for the unintentional issue and claimed that the problem as now been rectifiedAs for the Samsung Smart TV advertising issues outside of Australia, no official comment has been made by the company as of yet.

Samsung Is Launching New NX500 Compact Digital 28MP UltraHD 4K Camera

Samsung is officially releasing its latest NX500 compact digital camera which is good news for all the photographers out there who happen to be Samsung fans.

Samsung NX500Up until the present, the Samsung company had only been producing ultra high-definition 4K television sets. However, the tech industry conglomerate has decided to implement the same 4K high-definition technology into its newest NX500 camera because of the fact that the demand of the digital camera market is increasing.

Technology trends are changing on what almost seems like a day to day basis, and the sizes of these high-tech digital cameras are getting smaller and more compact. The new Samsung NX500 has much more attractive price tag than the NX-1 camera.

The NX500 takes some highly-detailed 28 megapixel still photos that look incredible and bring out the most minuscule details. Additionally, it shoots 4K videos and is capable of both 4K Ultra HD at 3840 x 2160p and cinematic 4K at 4096 x 2160p. It can shoot the 4K Ultra HD videos at 30 frames per second and the cinematic 4K videos at 24 frames per second, which is a reasonably decent speed.

It will be featuring a thin and portable size, a 3-inch super AMOLED touch screen, and a 16-50mm power zoom lens. It will be available in the color silver, and its leatherette covering will be available in white, brown and black color options. It also features a flip-up screen and BSI-CMOS designed APS-C image sensor.

The Samsung NX500 is designed with a default HEVC format. This format is considered the most efficient for recording because it doesn’t command a large amount of storage space; therefore, it works very well while also producing high-quality video. The HEVC is also considered to be one of the key factors, acting as a bridge between UHD and 4K.

Features such as interval capture mode and autoshot make the Samsung NX500 even more appealing to purchasers and the DRIMeV processor can potentially analyze pictures at 4 millisecond intervals. It can then foresee the best possible instant to capture the photo, and then takes the shot.

The Samsung NX500 will be competing with the A600. It will be officially released in March and will be priced at around $800.

Samsung Smart TVs Raising Privacy Concerns Regarding “Digital Spying”

They say that you should always read the “fine print.” When it comes to Samsung’s smart TV sets, this statement is officially being taken to whole new level. The tech industry giant’s small, fine print in its Smart TV security policy states that its Smart TV set’s voice recognition system both captures conversations that are supposed to be private and ultimately passes these private convos on to 3rd parties.

Samsung Smart TV spying on you?The actual sentence in the security policy statement that is raising the most concern and causing the most commotion and debate quotes: “Please be aware that if your spoken words include personal or other sensitive information, that information will be among the data captured and transmitted to a 3rd party through the use of Voice Recognition.”

What this basically means is that if you activate your Voice Recognition feature on your Samsung Smart TV and let’s say, you turn on a video game using just your voice, your Smart TV will translate your statement from speech to text as well as anything else you may happen to say and send the information to 3rd-party companies.

Because of this, websites have been accusing Samsung of using digital spying methods on its users and profiting off of their data by selling it. There is, however, no hard evidence whatsoever available at this time that proves any data-selling has actually occurred.

Samsung apparently defended itself against these accusations with claims of employing “industry-standard security safeguards and practices.” These safeguards and practices employed by the Samsung company include data encryption, which is used to secure the personal information of consumers and prevent any collection or use that is unauthorized.

Samsung added that any Smart TV user always has the option of either turning off the feature or completely disconnecting the TV from their wi-fi connection. Samsung is not the only company that does this, as Tom’s Guide mentioned that back in 2013, the LG company was actually in a similar situation.
