Seth MacFarlane’s upcoming live-action sitcom Dads has now come even closer to being a complete product, as the Family Guy creator again chose to hire one of his most frequent collaborators in voice acting for the job of fulfilling a role in ‘real life’.
Having previously utilised ‘Meg Griffin’ voice actress Mila Kunis in a leading lady role of last year’s comedy film Ted, he has now turned his attention to the man behind that character’s brother ‘Chris’, with Seth Green taking up a position on Fox’s new ‘live-action comedy’.
TVLine claims that Dads will feature Green alongside Tommy Dewey (The Mindy Project) as a pair of ‘video game entrepreneurs’ (‘Eli’ and ‘Warner’, respectively), who find their lives ‘turned upside-down’ when their ‘eccentric fathers’ (played by Martin Mull and Peter Riegert) are forced to move in with them. Brenda Song (The Suite Life of Zack & Cody) is also confirmed as a cast member, portraying an ‘assistant’ to one of the two lead characters.
Fox have already ordered 6 episodes for the series, in which creator MacFarlane will be on the executive production team alongside Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild (who each worked as co-writers with him on Ted).
Like MacFarlane, 39-year-old Green is also best-known for voicing and creating in animated comedy, as the co-creator of Adult Swim stop-motion series Robot Chicken, but is also recognised for roles in series such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, My Name Is Earl, and most recently How I Met Your Mother, along with his most notable film character of ‘Scott Evil’ in the Austin Powers trilogy. Will Dads manage to become counted amongst his career highlights?
However crazy this new sitcom is, he can probably rest safe in the knowledge that ‘Eli’ and his father at least won’t end up on Jerry Springer:
