The Last Ship Season 1 Review and the Riveting Plotline for Season 2

The Last Ship - Logo

I just came across this amazing TV series adapted from William Brinkley’s best-selling novel, The Last Ship. The season premiere actually aired back in 2014 and I was quite disappointed having only watched it in reruns, but it was rewarding nonetheless and it got enough fan support and audience share for the studio to make a second season.

Once Upon A Time – Fairytale TV show Story

Once upon a time, where almost all fairytale stories start so what’s the difference with this TV show? Let me tell you now that the fairytale stories that you’ve heard of or have watch since you were young isn’t what it all seems.

Once Upon A time MermaidsIt all started with the hatred of the Evil Queen Regina (Lana Parilla) to her stepdaughter Snow White that she even asked the help of Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle), an evil sorcerer, to conjure a curse, a curse that so powerful it will rift of all the happy endings of everyone, everyone except the Evil Queen of course as her happy ending is to see Snow White miserable but alas every curse can be broken. Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and her husband Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) feeling responsible for their current predicament have tried to think of plans after plans for them to break this curse. Snow White who was pregnant then felt fear for her unborn child that she convinced Prince Charming to let her seek answer through Rumplestiltskin.

They were given an answer; a savior will break the curse which happens to be their baby. The curse was casted and all fairytale legends we know are swallowed by purple clouds to God knows where.

28 years later, Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) who was revealed to have escaped the curse by a magical wardrobe was found by Henry Mills (Jared S. Gilmore), the son that she gave up for adoption 10 years ago. He brought her to Storybrooke, Maine, the town where the residents of the Enchanted Forest now resides.
Not so bad right? ECK WRONG! The twist to this story is that no one remembers who they were, they were given false identities and here’s the best part, they were kept frozen for the while 28 years. Now it’s up to Emma, with the aid of Henry and his Once Upon A Time book of fairytales that holds the key on how she will break the curse. And if you think that’s crazy how about Regina, the Evil Queen is also the one who adopted Henry. Conflict after conflict just happens to happen.

The show also shows us the past of our favorite fairy tale character’s past. You will see how the show made the original fairytale into somethingOnce upon a time misty town even more. Some of them are made from being all smooth sailing stories into one with a sad twist or things that you’ve never even predicted. The show not only revolves on the world of Storybrooke or the Enchanted Forest because in the second and third season, the story revolves around Neverland and the fourth season, you’ll never guess where, it’s Arendelle! Yup, they even included the fictional movie, Frozen.
This show is just getting better and better.

More fairy tale characters introduced, more twist ahead and you will definitely use that detective skills of yours because you just can’t stop on finding clues after clues, guessing what will happen and so much more. It’s not your cliché romantic show, it’s mixed with romance, angst, comedy, action, fantasy, and a lot more. It is now on its second half of season four which will premiere on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.

Fifty Shades of Grey Preview

Are you into romance? How about erotica? If you want both then I’ll definitely recommend that you watch Fifty Shades of Grey (of the same book title) this upcoming February 13, 2015. Fifty Shades of Grey is originally a trilogy book that was written by E.L. James on 2011. The story is really not for children cause believe me, it’s a Rated M. The date is really something too. A day before Valentines, how perfect for lovers to have a movie date.

Poster for 50 shades of greySo the trailer was released and I gotta say that was… HOT! The director Sam Taylor-Johnson really outdid herself and even the script that was done by Kelly Marcel is as titillating as the book itself. You know how people are when a book is made into a movie; they really anticipate how the movie is going to be and are sometimes very critical about it too! Is it going to be exactly like what was written in the book? Are they going to add some scenes in the screenplay? Will they make a twist that causes the whole film to be a watered down version of an excellent book? Or worse, abandon the whole book and make an entirely new storyline leaving only the book’s original characters or maybe even add one or more of their own characters?

These are often the things that goes through in the minds of faithful fans and enthusiasts.
The plot revolves around Anastasia “Ana” Steele (Dakota Johnson) and Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) and how they seem to be attracted to one another, but while they do indulged on their attraction for one another it doesn’t mean that they are together. AnastasiaFifty shades for grey the movie is a literature student who writes for their school paper with her roommate/best friend Kate Kavanagh (Eloise Mumford) . Kate was assigned to interview Christian Grey but due to an illness, she asked Anastasia to replace her and that is how they met. Anastasia instantly became attracted to Christian despite the guy being aloof and reserve and Christian also became attracted to her due to her beauty, innocence and independent spirit. As their ‘relationship’ goes, Ana discovered things about Christian that while he is successful, has a loving family, has lots of money, he still wants to be dominant about everything. He also ignited the desire in her body that even she herself didn’t know about.

Still not hooked? Well this is not your ordinary storyline because they do not do the whole simple make love/sex. If you haven’t read the book yet, then I suggest that you skip that and wait until the movie will come out, because c’mon most people don’t have the time to read 500-pages thick novels! But if you have watched the trailer, then you can see that there is this specific room that Christian showed to Anastasia and you can already guess that it’s BDSM. Yep kinky stuff, didn’t suspect that did you?

This is really one of the most anticipated movies in 2015! Not only will there be budding romance but there are also some deep emotions mixed into it. It can also be an eye opener to others because not all those who have everything they got are always happy. Not all things can be bought by money but rather it’s you who will have to find what your happiness is.
Set the date and don’t miss to watch Fifty Shades of Grey.

Genre: Romance, Erotica

Starring: Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan, Eloise Mumford, Luke Grimes, Rita Ora, and more.

Stay Tuned – “Penny Dreadful” Is Back For Season Two

Penny Dreadful is a scary psychological thriller that includes the classic horror tales in a new drama for adults. This show claimed some of the most terrifying characters in literature, including Dr. Frankenstein and his creature, continuing with Dorian Gray, as well as famous characters from the novel Dracula, lurking from the darkest corners of Victorian era in London, and became one of the most-watched and appreciated tv shows amongst the fans all over the world.

Penny Dreadful cast posingThe first season filled with excellent acting of the main characters, and all controversies that followed them, the encounters with demons, vampires and other dark creatures, all of course accompanied with a lot of blood, left us waiting and impatient for the start of a second season and follow up to the next adventures.

Until now, as the blood appears to be moving once again, considering the fact that Showtime announces the first official picture from Penny Dreadful season two, along with a teasing that the two show stars, Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett) and the ever haunting Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) are closer than friends.

“This season, Vanessa and Ethan face new challenges, and old enemies, and turn to each other for solace,” Penny Dreadful creator John Logan said. “Their intimacy grows as they are forced to confront their demons together.” John Logan, series creator and executive producer, says.

“We wanted the ‘Penny Dreadful’ action sequences to be appropriate to the piece, so our fights are barroom brawls; they’re really ugly and violent — it has the feeling of savagery,” added Logan.

The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon

Well, he’s out of the gate and running!  Jimmy Fallon is now the host of the Tonight Show and who knows what is going to happen next.

THE-TONIGHT-SHOW-WITH-JIMMY-FALLONFallon is replacing Jay Leno who retired after 20 years and the expectations are high. This is a situation of success or die for Fallon. He’s got to bring in the ratings and keep them there or he’ll get the boot.

This is Fallon’s biggest challenge yet as a performer and well earned.  He’s worked tirelessly for years honing his craft and is remarkably loved by most people.  He doesn’t come off as a stuffed shirt or ego tripper but as a chap who really enjoys entertaining people.

So far Fallon has had big support amongst celebrities.  It’s a tough job to follow in the footsteps of Tonight show hosts such as Leno, Carson, Parr, and the legendary Steve Allen but Fallon has the advantage of the regular viewership to stand on.  He has to make his own way and that’s going to take some time.

Fallon should be given some leeway here by NBC for the next year.  His ratings may rise and fall but that would be due to several factors.  He has to build his own fan base and convert the seasoned Tonight Show fans to his banner.  If he does that quickly he’s going to be there for as long as he wants.  If it takes some time then that’s okay as he’ll be showing he has had to learn the ropes on his own too.

The Tonight Show is a major staple in entertainment.  Acts are made on the show.  It’s been a springboard for all sorts of talent since day one and with the help of archived streaming talent the public can catch up on episodes not like the old Tonight Show where if yo missed something you had to wait for the reruns.  Now there’s streaming and DVDs.  Streaming episodes of Fallon will boost the show more as viewers who miss the show can watch it later.

All in all, Fallon has a lot going for him out of the gate and only time will tell if he’ll be able to hold the spotlight but it looks like he will.

The Ernie Kovacs Show

It’s time to call out your grandparents or great grandparents when you talk about the pioneering Ernie Kovacs show!

Ernie-Kovacs-showKovac’s show was totally unusual in many ways.  First of all Kovac’s genius kept the show alive and growing and was so popular that it was all over the television in one version or another.  With different names and times, there was a time when Ernie Kovacs’ show was seen on all the networks.  People had to have their Kovac fix and that meant networks had to have him.

The various series featured skits, gags, music, and more.  It ran from the early 50’s to early 60’s until Kovacs’ death in 1962.  He was a master of ad-libbing and during live television that sure had producers and censors on edge.  This was television in the raw with no delays like today’s so-called live shows that aren’t live but delayed in case someone says or does something unexpected or unwanted.

Kovacs was recognized for his talents while alive but it wasn’t until his untimely death that the industry realized how superior his work was, something the public already knew.

Catching his show on streaming is sort of like watching the Twilight Zone’s older, funnier brother.  Kovacs’ show could sweep a viewer into a new world of surrealism leaving viewers in a dreamlike state that lasted a lifetime it seems.  Eerie and wondrous camera work far before the use of today’s computer generated wizardry, Kovacs remains unmatched in creating an atmosphere of other worldly type comedy.

The artifacts from the show can be seen at television museums and people familiar with the show can often be seen standing around that gorilla mask he wore or the studio cue cards like they’re in a trance.

Do yourself a favor and catch the Ernie Kovacs show on streaming.  It will show you how television is supposed to be done.
