Future Predictions for Internet TV

The television industry is vastly changing in ways that you and I can hardly imagine that it makes it difficult to define what it really is these days. From Wikipedia, it says…

“Internet TV channelsTelevision, sometimes known as TV, the boob tube, or Tele is a telecommunication medium used for transmitting moving images and sound. Television can transmit images that are monochrome (black-and-white), in color, or in three dimensions. The name television can refer specifically to a television set, a television program, or the medium of television transmission. Television is an iconic mass medium, serving as a conduit for entertainment, advertising and news.”

Although some of these are still true, most have been given entirely new definitions that the terms and meanings no longer applies when we talk about TV or TV programming. Long ago TV signals were broadcast via communication towers owned by certain TV networks, but now you can get programming from the World Wide Web! And probably, in the future, radio and TV will all be linked to the internet and broadcasting towers will be a thing of the past.

Dancing to your Music CravingsHealth benefits include decrease in back pains, improvement on memory loss and releasing more dopamine hormones to help you relax. Instagram Lending a Helping Hand To Apple Watch Developers

Instagram recognizes an opportunity to develop considerably more complex applications for the Apple Watch and the company has released an open source library called the IGInterfaceDataTable in order to make the configuration of tables with multidimensional data easier.

The apple watchInstagram had said that instead of flattening data into an array, use a data source pattern that is similar to UITableViewDataSource to configure watch tables.

Ryan Nystrom, an Instagram engineer, made an email statement saying that the UITableView DataSource API provides an uncomplicated and pretty simple interface for the creation of rows with tables and section headers.

Instagram had built the library because the company had been having challenges when it came to the conversion of the existing structures and models that work alongside Apple iOS APIs to work with WatchKit. This ultimately enables the development of applications for this device. Nystrom claims that instead of making a different architecture for data, the company makes something much more robust and reusable. The Instagram company is planning to keep the library itself relatively small and focused on the solving of one problem. Whenever the company runs into other problem spaces, it hopes to find some way to open-source them is it can.

Apple formally released the Apple Watch back in the early part of March and Tractica, a market intelligence firm, has recently released a report projecting that over 75 million wearable devices are planned to be deployed in industrial and enterprise environments between 2014 and 2020. Smart watches are seeming to be the biggest category of wearables in the workplace. Using wearables in the enterprise is going to include devices that belong to the “bring your own wearable” type of trend, as well as smartwatches and/or fitness trackers that are provided by employers as a part of corporate wellness programs.

Streaming Movies and Videos Via The Internet

Before the internet was created there was TV. Television was the social media back in the 1930’s all the way up to the 1990’s and generations have had certain attachments to it and the TV shows and movies it broadcast. Social behaviour and social interaction was mostly about TV as opposed to the ancient social interaction was mostly about religions, gods, wars and the bloody spectacle of the Roman Gladiators.

Screen wallAt least now our taste for entertainment is just pretence, a make-believe of some sorts but I must say is far more entertaining than the gruesome past. Aside from reading interesting blog posts, seeing all the nice images along with them and tons of freebies and special offers; the internet allows you to stream movies at will (or as long as the movie is available to view that is).

Move Over HBO! Showtime is Preparing to Launch It’s Own New Streaming Service In The Near Future

Lovers of premium cable TV channels just might be able to stop paying an arm and a leg for their favorite ones sooner than we may have expected. Earlier in the year, HBO made its announcement about its new standalone video streaming service which it plans to officially launch sometime later on in the year. Well, now Showtime has apparently decided to jump onboard the standalone streaming service bandwagon as well.

Showtime to launch its own streaming serviceShowtime has been currently hosting some pretty popular shows. Among these shows are Penny Dreadful, Shameless and Masters of Sex. Up until now, it also has been a pretty expensive part of a cable TV subscription package. Big-name cable companies like DirecTV and Comcast usually charge their subscribers anywhere from about $10 to $15 or so dollar per month to add Showtime channel to an existing cable subscription package.

The chief executive officer of CBS (the company that owns Showtime), Leslie Moonves, explained how the Showtime channel played a significantly large part in the 2% increase in the company’s revenue. CBS also claims that to be able to capitalize on the popularity of the Showtime channel, sometime later on this year, it plans to introduce an online streaming service specifically for Showtime programs.

It is not yet known whether the Showtime streaming service will be subscription-based or a la carte, and it has not yet been declared how much the service will cost and when exactly it will be expected to officially launch. It will definitely be a standalone streaming service with no cable package required and subscribers to the service will be able to stream the Showtime series on their mobile devices, computers and set-top boxes.

Now that HBO and Showtime, two of the biggest names in pay TV channels are going to be offering standalone streaming services, it may inspire a huge amount of consumers to officially cut their cable cords and other channels and networks will most likely start jumping on the standalone streaming service bandwagon as well.

Google’s New Search Feature Teaches You How To Bartend

If you happen to have an interest in mixology, you might end up becoming a big fan of this new Google search feature. Google has recently added a new feature to its search engine that actually teaches its users how to create and mix cocktails.

Google bartender featureIf you use the Google search engine to search for a way to make a certain cocktail, the search engine will offer you a complete list of all the ingredients in that cocktail as well as a set of step-by-step instructions on how to properly prepare it. The new cocktail search feature appears whenever Google.com is used on a computer or the Google app is used on a smartphone or other mobile device.

Google’s new search feature let’s you search for certain queries, such as “how do I make a Long Island Iced Tea?” or “how do I make a Sex on the Beach?” Google will show you the actual description of the drink as well as information about the cocktail’s history. It will even let you know which glass is the right type to pour the drink in and what the cocktail’s proper garnish is, if any.

According to Google, the cocktail that was searched the most so far this year is a drink called the Moscow Mule. The 2nd most often searched drink is the Margarita and in 3rd place is the popular Bloody Mary cocktail.

This new cocktail feature of the Google search engine is part of the company’s Knowledge Graph initiative. The Google Knowledge Graph is essentially a knowledge base that was primarily created with the purpose of enhancing Google search engine results in way that helps users find answers to any of their search questions right away.

Google’s Knowledge Graph was initially launched back in 2012, and what it does is pull information from reliable sources such as the Wikipedia and CIA World Factbook. Google curates the recipes for the cocktails from a variety of several sources. This is done in an effort to provide the best results.
