Ah music… don’t you just love it? You can hear it anywhere, even in the deep, deep forest. The chirping of the birds, the rush of water, it can be music to your ears. What better way to fully enjoy music? Hello! A musical movie of course! And even better, it’s in A capella! That’s right, singing without the use of musical accompaniment.

Pitch Perfect 2 poster You remember the movie Pitch Perfect that was showed in year 2012 right? Well they are back! The Barden Bellas are here to once again take the stage and ready to perform their crazy, funky music. Ok before going to this sequel let’s have a recap on the first one. I’m warning you now… if you haven’t watched the first movie—which sucks since it’s such a great movie— stop right there cause I know the feeling of getting irritated when it comes to spoilers. Ok so I’m blabbering now, so the first one…

Keanu Reeves Confirms Bill & Ted 3

The idea of Bill and Ted 3 has been floating around the infamous development hell for a while now. With both Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter very much onboard to finally turn the much loved films into a trilogy, the third film still has some hurdles to clear before it can become a reality. It has been 24 years since Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, the film that opened modestly at cinemas but has grown an incredible cult following ever since.

Bill and Teds Excellent adventure finally to returnThe script has been finished for quite some time according to Alex Winter, with both him and Keanu Reeves happy with the end result. The problem now is acquiring the funds to make it happen, with studios reluctant to jump on a project that is not a guarantee success is what’s holding the film back. With such a long time since the last movie, Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey, it was always going to be difficult to replicate the first two films’ success. Plot details are few and far between at the moment, with only hints as to what the story will be about, Alex Winter released details that the film will be about Bill and ted grown up, or not grown up, as they would be both be in their forties.

Luckily, Wyld Stallyns have remained friends off screen all this time. Both Reeves and Winter would meet up with the original writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon and throw ideas around for a possible third film. But they did not want to hastily rush a film that doesn’t do the original justice. A number of years passed before the idea was set in stone, it was a plot that all four agreed on and Matheson and Solomon proceeded to write a first draft. Upon completion, both Winter and Reeves loved it and the search for a director and producer began. Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest) was welcomed aboard, but the biggest obstacle remained, a studio to finance it.

As for the cast, the only two confirmed are of course Ted Theodore Logan and Bill S Preston Esquire themselves, played by Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter respectively. It has also been rumoured that William Sadler will reprise his role as the Grim Reaper but sadly George Carlin, who played Rufus, died in 2008.With no release date set, or even a start for filming, the wait could still be a long one, but talks of a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds is another method of making another Bill and Ted film a reality.

Kevin Smith to Start Filming Clerks III

It has been over 20 years since Kevin Smith made his directorial debut with Clerks back in 1994. And now, after many years of teasing and dropping hints of the third film, Kevin Smith has finally revealed a release date for the much anticipated sequel to 2006’s Clerks II. With the returning duo of Jay and Silent Bob (Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes) joining the cast of Rosario Dawson and Jeff Anderson, Clerks III will finally be the film that fans have been waiting for.

Screen shot from the movie ClerksThe original film Clerks, was Smith’s debut and has gone on to become a cult favourite. Shot entirely in black and white due to budgeting restraints, saving money and time on having to correct colour in post-production due to lighting issues. The film follows a couple of store clerks who worked in a convenience store, the store where Kevin Smith actually worked in at the time. The store only allowed them to film when the store was shut so Smith had to film throughout the night, grab a few hours sleep and then resume working during the day.

But Clerks III almost didn’t even happen, Smith tried so hard to get the film financed in time for the 20th anniversary but no company was picking it up. Most noticeably was the Weinstein Company declining the $6million asking price from Smith, it was only when his latest feature was panned that companies were interested in other projects of Smith’s. Tusk, a horror film about a podcaster who goes missing in the backwoods of Manitoba starring Justin Long received unfavourable reviews across the board. But luckily, this meant that the Clerks series will finally have the sequel to bring the trilogy to an end.

Smith has confirmed that filming will begin in Philadelphia in May 2015 with a release date of August 2016, coming exactly ten years since Clerks II was released back in 2006. As for the plot, it is still very much under wraps with no clue as to what it will focus on, or even exactly who will feature. Jeff Anderson, who played Randal in the first two films, mentions on Kevin Smith’s podcast that the script to Clerks III will be a different kind of film to the first two. Smith also goes on to claim that the third and final instalment, at 137 pages, will play like The Empire Strikes Back of the Clerks trilogy.

Clerks III will be released in August 2016 and a 20th anniversary vinyl edition of the original film’s soundtrack will be available soon.

MacGruber: A Cult Favourite?

What started as a Saturday Night Live sketch first appearing back in January 2007, MacGruber hit the big screen in 2010 to mixed reviews and a particularly bad showing at the box office. Will Forte plays the title character MacGruber, a special operations agent, a parody of the popular 80s adventure MacGyver. Forte is also joined by fellow SNL regular Kirsten Wiig as his assistant, Vicki St Elmo. MacGruber, much like his parodied influence, makes use of everyday household objects in an attempt to diffuse bombs. The original SNL skit was just a recurring scene in which MacGruber and his assistant were trapped in a control room with a ticking time bomb. MacGruber would proceed to ask for random everyday objects in an attempt to stop the bomb and save everyone. But MacGruber would repeatedly get sidetracked by irrelevant issues and the bomb was never diffused, ending each sketch by an explosion and presumably killing everyone.

MacGruber PosingThis premise ran for several years before a full length feature film version was announced. Considering the very basic premise of the show would be difficult to translate into a motion picture, Forte and creator Jorma Taccone had to come up with an idea that would work as a film. Choosing to stay with satirising 80s action shoe MacGyver, they decided to extend it to cover all action movie tropes of that era. With only a budget of $10million, the film was released in May 2010 to dismal box office takings, making only $9.3million, still short of their relatively low budget. The film fared only slightly better with critics, where it has earned just 47% on film review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes.

The film version involved Forte and Wiig reprising their roles as MacGruber and St Elmo respectively. This time they are joined by Ryan Phillippe as Dixon Piper, a young lieutenant who is assigned to MacGruber;s team, much to his disdain. MacGruber is forced out of retirement and is tasked to retrieve a nuclear warhead from his old nemesis Dieter Von Cunth, played by Val Kilmer. The film, although a hit with fans of the show, became the 2nd worst film in terms of box office takings of 2010, behind the forgettable The Warrior’s Way, starring Geoffrey Rush and Kate Bosworth. In fact, the film became the lowest-grossing wide releasing SNL film ever, behind the likes of Wayne’s World and Blues Brothers, both of which were box office successes as well as cementing themselves as cult favourite status. But as with many similar films, MacGruber slowly grew a cult following and its popularity is one that continues to grow. So much so that a sequel has been confirmed by the original’s director and creator, Taccone, who announced the news last year and Forte has been quoted as saying shooting might have already been wrapped up.

In the meantime, MacGruber is available to stream online through Netflix.

Comedy And Streaming Is Still King

Laughter is the best medicine they say and with the amount of comedy found streaming on the web people may find themselves getting healed fast.

Comedy-Central-ReviewFrom stand up to classic slapstick you’ll find so much comedy online that you can laugh all day and night.  Of course the sites like Comedy Central are on cable but can be streamed online.

Archived shows are available on sites like Hulu and Netflix.  The same can be said for other comedy networks from around the world.  Yes, every country on Earth has comedy and even if you don’t understand the language you can still find yourself laughing until you cry.

The global streaming sites have links to the streaming live and archived comedy shows.  Someone somewhere has got to make a site that features all the comedy available streaming on the web as well as the stand up comedy. It just piles on and on and the big time American stars can’t keep away from the web.  It’s a new life’s blood for them and retired comedians find their old movies, shows, and concerts alive and well online!  More exposure and more revenue!  Can’t argue with that!

New comedians can produce their own movies and TV shows at home, upload them to YouTube or even get an exclusive deal with one of the big streaming sites.  Many of today’s top stars got their start that way.  One never knows what new comedy venue will produce that breakout star.

Overall, the online streaming option is so beneficial for comedians that a smart comedy producer has to know their skills and get their A Game on to stay in the competition.

Even you and your friends can make a major impact with just one funny video that goes viral.  We’ve seen it a hundred times, a person uploads a dog biting someone in the butt and next thing you know it’s all over the planet.  Add some revenue links to that video and you’re talking making enough money whereby you won’t have to work again ever.

Yes, comedy and streaming is a good thing.

How To Watch Hundreds Of Free Movies From The Public Domain

Did you know there is a secret untapped and little known source of full length movies on the web? No i didn’t either until i heard about free to watch public domain movies.

Free movies from the public domain

Free movies from the public domain

These are films that are usually of a vintage nature (that means a few years old to you and me), or sometimes more modern films that  have slipped out of copyright and entered the public domain. Alternatively sometimes the film’s owners decide to contribute it for public consumption and they forgo any royalties.

This means that no one owns copyright on the films and you can watch them for free. So if you can look past the age of the movies, then you get an amazing number of classic full-length motion picture films, b-movies, cartoons, documentaries and other videos for no cost.

It’s paradise city for those of you cutting the cord, and as a bonus many can be downloaded for offline viewing.

You can watch most of these movies from any connected hardware that can run a browser, and from anywhere in the world. From smartphones, tablets, computers, Macs and streaming boxes. No fees, software, or registration is needed to download or play the movie.

The only slight problem is determining whether a movie is out of copyright. You can sometimes gauge it from the year the film was made. For instance any film made before the mid 1920’s will usually be copyright free. But many films made up to 1964 are also free to use, view or download.

But the good news is that you don’t need to worry about copyright details, you can just visit one of the many websites that cater to free public domain movies. We have compiled a list of the best public domain movie websites here.
