Vegas

Director James Mangold, known for successful movies such as Girl, Interrupted, Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma and The Wolverine (which everyone is waiting to see in theaters this year) is once again working on a series for Television, the Vegas series. Besides contemporary forensic series, CBS decided to finance a cop show in which action is set in the '60s, when Las Vegas was considered a gambling Mecca.
The main character is Sheriff Ralph Lamb, played by Dennis Quaid, who goes on the trail of a ruthless gangster, Vincent Savino, played by Michael Chicklis, which we know well from The Shield or Breaking Bad. This is Dennis Quaid's debut on the small screen. Taking into consideration that Vegas is created by director James Mangold and that Nicholas Pileggi, know for his work on the Goodfellas, is handling script, Vegas premises to make it on the list of the most entertaining series of its genre.
What I liked about this show so far is that it always combines a sense of humor with serious subjects and that the action follows two distinct stories that intertwine in each episode. On  one hand, we see the life of Sherriff Lamb, his son and his brother as they take care of police business in Vegas, and, on the other hand, we get to see exactly what taking care of a Casino for the mob meant back in the day as the series focuses on Vincent Savino’s life as a casino manager and the man of Chicago’s mafia in Vegas.

Verdict:
I think Vegas is a good TV series, and you will be entertained watching it. However, this is not a series for those looking for hardcore action scenes or too much mafia-related information. Somewhat light yet genuinely fun; Vegas should definitely be on your ‘to watch’ list.
