Review: Doctor Who
Who is Doctor Who? Doctor Who is the longest-running British Science Fiction series of all times. Doctor Who now has over thirty seasons that span on more than forty years, with some breaks from time to time; twenty-six seasons on the old format and a revival with new series starting 2005. There are also kinds of specials episodes created.
The Doctor is the last of a species of aliens called the Time Lords and spends his time traveling through time and space, encountering all kinds of troubles wherever he travels such as preventing an alien invasion of Earth, saving civilizations, planets, and occasionally the whole universe, or just saving himself and his companions from the troubles he gets them into.
The Doctor's ship is called the TARDIS (acronym for Time And Relative Dimensions In Space), and it looks like a blue phone booth because the camouflage circuit remained stuck in the shape of a particular telephone booth once used by the British police. However, the TARDIS is bigger on the inside than on the outside. The doctor doesn't usually travel alone, but accompanied by various consorts, mostly humans and almost all of then women.
The biology of the Time Lords rescues them when they are dying. They don't actually die for good but are regenerated in another body. Theoretically, they can have only twelve regenerations, but this is a theory that has its exceptions of course. Along with the new body, the Time Lords also get a new personality. The action takes place mostly on Earth, especially in the UK and most often in the present and in the past. However, at times, strange and distant planets as well as the very distant future are visited.
Verdict:
Sci-Fi and time travel fans should not miss this series. Dr. Who takes us in incredible journeys and the series is filled with quality humor and solid action. The acting is good, and the only think I'd like to see improved is on the special effects side.
