Zombies Roam The Streets Worldwide In AMC Promo
AMC will be adding to the already stressful routine of driving through crowded and bustling major cities on a global scale today, with the day being used for a promotional stunt of a ‘zombie outbreak’ by the cable network for their upcoming drama series, The Walking Dead.
The timing of the stunt, and the show launch, would obviously be linked to the current holiday coming up, Halloween, with the nature of the show also fitting in perfectly. The stunt will involve participants, many of whom are said to be university students, dressing up as zombies, and ’invading’ 26 major global cities.
The ’worldwide outbreaks’ of undead will center in and around major landmarks and cities, such as Brooklyn Bridge (in New York City), Lincoln Memorial (Washington D.C.), Big Ben (London), Prado Museum (Madrid), and the Acropolis (Athens) amongst others.
The ‘spread the dead’ campaign will be held throughout the date of 26 October, and fitting in with the relative time zones, by starting in the morning in Taipei and Hong Kong City, and continuing in a generally western direction, with cities such as Istanbul, Munich, London, Buenos Aires, and New York City, before winding down in Los Angeles, celebrating a Hollywood premiere bash for the new series.
The Walking Dead, which stars Andrew Lincoln and Sarah Wayne Callies as the leaders of a desperate group of ‘survivors’ of a zombie apocalypse, is set for a broadcast premiere on AMC, and the Fox International Channels for global viewers, on Halloween (31 October).
