YouTube Prepare Magical Evening With Harry Potter Premiere
The movie that everyone is talking about this week is the final installment in the Harry Potter saga (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2) with the eighth film in the money-spinning series set to enjoy its global premiere today in London (England, UK), just over a week before the movie is released to cinemas.
The red-carpet event, which will see stars of the movie (such as the headlining ever-present cast of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint) producers, supporting cast, and a selection of big-name celebrity guests in attendance for the ceremony.
The locations for this high-profile event are Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square, and YouTube have announced that they will also be there to provide free streaming of the premiere (movie not included) having announced a week ago that on July 7, the official Harry Potter YouTube channel is to have dedicated live streaming between 4pm and 7pm GMT.
The week has also seen ‘Potter-mania’ take over the YouTube channel, with the video sharing site also providing a number of features on the Harry Potter channel, including interviews, behind-the-scenes clips, trailers, parodies, and featurettes all uploaded for viewers to enjoy, as well as the ability to for users to rent online any of the seven previous installments in the Harry Potter movie collection.
Away from online broadcasting, it was also revealed last week that in the British Isles, Sky 3D are to show a three-hour premiere show of their own, with Alex Zane and Edith Bowman presenting the first event of its type to be shown in 3D in the region.
While YouTube now has experience of live streaming major events this year, with Royal Weddings and international football tournaments amongst the high-profile list, will they now be able to keep up with the glitz and glamour of a movie premiere?
