Youtube Parental Controls Introduced At Last
Although many did not even realise they didnt have it already, YouTube has introduced a new parental control feature to its millions of videos. Known as Safe Mode, the new feature allows users to disable any unsuitable content such as sexual, obscene, graphically violent or suggestive. Which to my mind makes 90% unsuitable. Youtube do say that Safe Mode is not a fool proof measure, and there is no guarantee that the kids or any other family members won’t accidently find something outrageous to watch.
YouTube has installed the measure partly due to coming under attack from parents who think some of the content on the video site is unsuitable for their kids. The Safe Mode is located at the bottom of the page and is being rolled out to users now.
However the Safety Mode has to be turned on for every browser, so you would have to turn it on for every browser that can run on a given computer, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome amongst the many available.
Plus even more work is needed to make your PC safe as Safety Mode is account specific, so if you have different accounts on a computer, you have to turn on Safety Mode for all the accounts you want to filter. This is good though if you want to watch the sex and violence whilst protecting other family members.
