YouTube Looking To Dominate Your TV
During their short five years of life, YouTube have evolved from being the home of funny/odd/plain weird videos to a serious entertainment hub that can seriously compete with the big networks in the coming internet connected age.
With a worldwide audience of 400 million they are setup to offer the modern day viewer, exactly what they want – tv on demand, at a time and place of the users choice. Youtube never has, and still doesnt make a profit, largely due to advertisers considering the traffic to be of low quality.
However, Youtube have been changing from a geeks hangout, to a place where viewers can watch full length movies, catch-up tv from channels around the world. And now they are close to launching live Indian Premier League cricket matches for sports fans.
Amongst its quality content from Bollywood movies to movie rentals, it also recently streamed a music concert from U2 in Los Angeles which attracted a global audience of 10 million people.
Google obviously had a long term plan when they paid big bucks for Youtube, and now its coming to fruition. A quality site attracting a quality audience that will have advertisers flocking.
As soon as the internet connected hardware becomes mainstream and broadband speeds make buffering a thing of the past, Youtube will be there on every device and on every television set. A brand that has carefully been built and millions of loyal users knowing that whatever they want to see can be found on Youtube.
