Youku launches its own News channel
Top Chinese video site Youku has launched its very own Youku News Channel.Presenting news from Youku’s media partners and also featuring user generated video news on the latest world happenings.
Youku Chief Editor Zhu Xiangyang commented:- “With a focus on online syndication and interactivity, Youku News Channel will be a bridge connecting the traditional media and Internet users. Our primary goal is to build a mainstream and socially responsible news platform with timely news video content for the millions of users visiting Youku every day.”
The website renowned for showing illegal video content has established partnerships with over 268 media companies and organizations, including film studios, television production companies, music record labels, and 28 national and provincial television networks from China. Partners include leading Chinese media groups like Beijing Television (BTV), Shanghai Media Group (SMG), Nanfang Media Group, and Xinhua News Agency.
Youku always important in China, is picking up more fans worldwide and has played an important role in letting the highly regulated Chinese Internet users to record and share videos of important events that happened in China. Events have included the Olympic torch relay, and the Sichuan earthquake, Chinese television networks picked Youku as their source for first hand videos.
