X Factor USA Prepares Big Announcement
Producers of the new US version of The X Factor have claimed that a big announcement about the show is to be revealed today.
Show boss Simon Cowell, who is so far the only confirmed judge for the talent contest (which will be shown on the Fox network (and on ITV2 in the UK)), had stated after the NTA awards in the UK (held nearly a fortnight ago) that an announcement about his new show would be made ‘within two weeks’.
The announcement is likely to confirm either the three judges that will join Simon (with a host of British and North American music personalities in the running), the presenter for the series (with a shortlist including British X Factor host Dermot O’Leary, Welshman Steve Jones, and former High School Musicalstar Zac Efron, amongst others), or both, in the build-up to the show’s estimated September release.
The official Fox website gave this teaser: “It’s what we’ve all been waiting for. The X Factor. Airing on Fox this Fall. And we’re on a mission to find America’s top undiscovered singing talent. Be sure to check back tomorrow for some BIG X Factor news.”
An official Twitter account for Simon Cowell’s ‘Syco Music’ label also stated that a ‘big announcement’ would be made ‘today’.
The announcement will come the day after two new promos for the show appeared on US television last night, during the some of the coveted ‘Super Bowl Sunday’ slots. These adverts can be seen below:
