Founder of Wikileaks, Julian Assange’s new chat show, ‘The World of Tomorrow‘ is set to air next week. The show is due to launch on Tuesday, April 17, both online and on Russian network Russia Today (RT). The show will be a talk show and run for 12-episodes.
The news was announced by RT and although guests are being kept ‘secret’, they will consist of “politicians, revolutionaries, intellectuals, artists and visionaries”. But thats not all, there will also be, “Iconoclasts, visionaries, and power insiders.”
The show will be filmed in London where Assange is under house arrest, and will air on the 500th day since funding for Wikileaks was blocked. The show which runs for half hour episodes will be simultaneously broadcast from Moscow across RT’s three channels in English, Arabic and Spanish, and from Washington, DC on RT America.
In the mysterious press release, it states thast, “figures…who normally simply would not be given a voice on TV at all. What is fair to say is that the majority of what they have said to me they could not say on a mainstream TV network.”
And to drum up more controversy, RT editor-in-chief, Margarita Simonyan said, “We do not want to kill the buzz and the intrigue by revealing the name of the first guest, but I have no doubts that this particular guest and this interview will lead to calls to shut us down from some especially hawkish personalities who have little respect for freedom of speech.”
Although many may expect Assange to keep a low profile while awaiting trial, he was a guest on the Simpsons 500th episode.
