Whats Better Than HDTV? Android Powered Internet HDTV
A television running on the Android os has been announced for release in the summer. The high definition tv will come from an unlikely source – a Swedish company called People of Lava.
To be released initially as a 42-inch screen size with 47 and 55-inch versions planned, the set will cost you around $3,000 so get saving now. Obviously the tv will have a browser function and a selection of apps (applications) that will include Google Maps plus social networking sites (Twitter, Facebook), Youtube etc. The tv is also promised to give viewers access to a selection of the numerous internet tv streaming sites available online.
The tv set pictures certainly look great and give us an idea as to how the Google set top box could look when released. The set is released at a time when internet-connected TV is becoming the next big thing, letting viewers watch on tv streaming from YouTube, Netflix and Hulu. Making use of Android fits well as a browser as its a new release and free.
The People of Lava TV set will also come with a wireless keyboard, but whether users will be happy to fork out for what is basically available now using a pc or laptop remains to be seen. One thing is for sure though, there will be plenty more android powered tv sets announced soon.
