Watching TV shows on internet increasingly popular
Watching your favorite TV show you missed on television last night by viewing the show online is becoming increasingly popular. Recently two different studies have shown.
Horowitz Associates study :- Broadband Content and Services 2007. (Online Media Daily account) found that a chunky 16 percent of broadband Internet users had watched at least one full length TV program via the internet during the week, this is up double from last years figures.
A second study from the Nielsen Company discovered that 25% of 1,599 Americans surveyed during October had watched on the internet episodes of a TV program in the past three months.
Both of these studies show the increasing popularity of streaming TV Shows on the Internet.
Out of the major networks ABC.com (50%), NBC.com (41%), CBS.com (37%), and Fox.com (24%) were the most widely viewed. Other internet sites such as YouTube (17%) and iTunes (15%) were also viewed, but less frequently.
Horowitz notes however that watching via your tv set is still the preferred option to view. The study showed that 70% of Internet viewers revealed they watch Television online because they had missed a TV episode. Some like to rewatch a show on the Internet and caught up with the show online after a recommendation.
This increase in online viewing oupled with technological improvements is good news for the networks streaming tv plans. The merging of TV and PC viewing will continue to merge until they become one.
