Adding to the list of internet tv set top boxes comes the Vunow. This vunow Watch internet TV without a PC. Vunow set top box released soon.small device lets you ‘view millions of videos’ straight from the internet to your TV negating the need for a computer.

Release date scheduled for January 2009 and as small as a pack of cards, the Vunow will let viewers watch online tv such as movies, TV episodes, sports events and much more.

Produced by Verismo Networks, an Internet TV start up company Founded in 2003 are running trials of its new conception prior to release.

Satish Mugulavalli, general manager of Verismo Networks said:- ‘The Internet is one of the richest sources of video content in the world and consumers spend hours watching videos online. For instance, YouTube alone had five billion video views in just the month of July 2008. In such a scenario, VuNow will enrich the online video viewing experience by bringing the videos directly to the TV.’

Using the usual company self promoting blurb, he went on to say:- ‘VuNow is an entertainment gateway box. You can browse and watch YouTube clips, search and watch videos from thousands of online video sites, watch live, free to air channels from around the world and rent or purchase blockbusters from Hollywood.’

So, in a nutshell you can buy this device (selling price currently unknown) and watch internet tv streams via the built in interface straight onto your TV. Or, you can use your existing computer and connect up your PC to your TV set and do it all a hundred times easier and better. Frankly i see this as another disappointment and waste of time because it does something that nobody needs!

Still, the evolution of online TV requires that these devices come and go until we reach the utopia that is full on internet TV.
