Want free anime? Yeah so do i and the good news is we got it. But what is this strange genre of cartoon and where did it come from?

Anime is an abbreviation of the English word ‘animation’ and is also known as Japanimation. The genre originated from the Manga comic books in Japan that were often very violent and sexual. The Genre was groundbreaking in the West because it featured adult themed cartoons.

Genres included in Anime include:-

Action and Adventure – focusing on battles, war and physical competition. Martial arts, weapon fighting, or other action oriented material are usually featured. Examples include: Naruto or One Piece.

Drama – Thes Animes target characters development and emotional themes. Often centering around relationships. Examples include: Fushigi Yu-gi or InuYasha.

Games Based – Everyones heard of Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon. These Anime usually revolve around card or board games. Examples: Yu-Gi-Oh! or Hikaru No Go.

Horror - useing dark and supernatural themes. Examples: Vampire Hunter D series or Chrono Crusade.

Science fiction -consisting of various futuristic elements, particularly featuring future science and technology. They can be drawn from current scientific studies and inventions or created to meet the needs of the world. Examples: Ghost in the Shell or Wings of Honneamise

   Please do not be offended by this comment, as it is only posted to be helpful and assist in more accurate information. The description of the word anime on this site is incorrect. Anime is a Japanese word that means “cartoon”, in America when we say anime we usually only mean cartoons from Japan. Sometimes it is referred to Japanime in America. Also, the word manga is a Japanese word that means comic book, another word in America that is used to describe mainly Japanese comic books. Although, a lot of anime is based off of manga, anime’s origins is heavily influenced by Disney’s animation style, which is why some anime like the first anime Astroboy looks like a Disney cartoon.

   Haha, you all are wrong and right. There is no direct translation from Japanese to English, especially speaking slang. For example the word “hentai” or “hen tai”, “weird looking”, stands for pervert in many cases.
