Viewers Fall For New Falling Over YouTube Craze
While most people in 2011 will have heard of the strange Internet-assisted craze known as ‘planking’ (in which people film or take pictures of themselves laying flat-out in everyday or odd locations), it seems as though 2012 could see the rise of ‘falling’.
Obviously a video-only viral hit, ‘falling’ composes of the participants, in a place where there would generally be a crowd (with supermarkets a popular option), deliberately slipping up to try and get a reaction from the unwitting people nearby. A person said to be known as a ‘co-faller’ secretly films the procedure.
The potential new craze is so far limited to just one major video, created by YouTube channel JStuStudios, but in the one month it has been online it has seen over 750,000 hits. The channel describes the video (which can be seen below) as: “Now that Cone-ing is old, it’s time for a new wave of fun! FALLING!! Sometimes when people fall, you can’t help but to laugh, and that’s exactly what we are trying to do. From realistic falls and hilarious noises to stupid looking falls, we got you covered here in the Best Falls we have gotten so far!”
The upcoming craze follows on from a number of odd activities which have become popular in recent times, such as planking, ‘cone-ing’ (grabbing an ice cream by the wrong end), ‘ghost-ride the whip’ (dancing around a slow-moving car), and ‘caging’ (another ‘invented’ by JStuStudios, where a person is filmed as being trapped in a cage on roadsides), how will ‘falling’ stack up in the crazy stakes? It is funny, just not in the way that they might want it to be…
