U-verse Subscribers Can Watch The World Cup In 3D
So whats better than watching the World Cup on a 50 inch HDTV? How about watching the action in 3D? Well now you can, so long as your a subscriber of AT&T U-verse and you have a 3D TV sitting in the corner of your front room. Oh and dont forget your 3D glasses as well. But if you have that little lot, then you will be able to watch 25 of the FIFA World Cup matches in 3-D by watching the new ESPN 3D channel.
The first match of the World Cup has already aired in 3D, that being the South Africa versus Mexico opening match. There are plans to show around 100 live sporting events in 3D during the next 12 months including the 2010 State Farm Home Run Derby, X Games 16, Winter X Games 15, college basketball and football games and the 2011 BCS National Championship Game.
The 3-D programming is supported on all subscribers’ existing U-verse DVRs and receivers without any additional set up or U-verse equipment upgrades. Many other networks around the world are investing in 3D technology as the next big thing, including satellite giant, Sky TV.
AT&T join Comcast who recently aired this years Masters Golf Tournament in 3D. The cable giant together with the Augusta National Golf Club got together to air the worlds first 3D live sporting broadcast.
