TumTiki Enters Online TV Market As Distributor
A new video content sourcing service named TumTiki has been launched by cable TV provider Frontier Communications, and has seemingly set out to become one of the largest hosts of content on the market boasting over half a million titles.
They are off to a good start with this goal, as deals made with a number of online content providers (the most high-profile of which are Hulu and Amazon Prime) have given them a starting platform of over 700,000 films and TV series in their library, around 85% of which is free to access.
TumTiki will be working to help users in the USA to watch almost anything they want on one website, including an option to watch localised programming (which can be viewed by using their ‘map’ of the country).Fronteir representative Melinda White said of the TumTiki service: “It’s an exciting launch for us. It’s the largest video library of any single destination site. This is a value to our customers, it’s designed to bring attention to our site. When you click on a title on Hulu, for example, you stay on our site. That’s a value to our advertisers, but it’s also a value to partners like Hulu, because we still bring them more eyeballs.”
With a large majority of shows in the USA now available to watch online with even less mouse clicks than before, how far will the ‘ease of use’ video services manage to go in the search of a perfect hub for the Internet’s video content? TumTiki seems to be the closest so far…
