Look Back From Time Warner Brings Catch Up To Cable

Time Warner giving customers catch up tv

Cable giant Time Warner are launching a new catch up tv service for customers as a response against the internet tv threat. The new service called ‘Look Back‘ will launch on monday and gives viewers a 3 day catch up service.

Time Warner Cable have over 13 million subscribers who can access 24 channels with many in HD, including Discovery Network, Food Network, Time Warner and NBC. Any show aired, can be replayed for 3 days using the customer’s remote control. One point that may not go down well is the fact that fast forward has been disabled whilst ads are showing, it was said to be a consition TWC had to comply with.

After launch more channels are planned as Time Warner increases server capacity. The Look Back service will run alongside the ‘Start Over’ service which lets viewers restart a show that has already started.

The move comes as Time Warner and other cable companies lose an increasing number of subscribers. In 2009 Time Warner lost on average 100,000 subscribers per quarter. Many cord cutters are desserting pay tv and moving over to online services such as Hulu and Netflix.

One Response to “Look Back From Time Warner Brings Catch Up To Cable”

  1. “Priced at $50 per month, it’ll include roughly 50 channels,” Is this really newsworthy?? Isn’t the “real” news here that TW thinks this is some kind of “deal”? $50 / month for a no frills package where getting a DVR isn’t even an option. (” Also, subscribers to the package cannot get DVRs as part of their service.” according to the article) shows TW’s lack of respect for their customers.
