Sony Bravia Gets YouTube HD Streaming
The Bravia connected TV range from Sony have received a firmware update bringing amongst other things, YouTube video streaming in high definition on the big screen.
The Youtube HD update has come, because say Sony, “Watching the latest Internet sensation on a smartphone or laptop simply doesn’t come close to the big screen experience.”
The update comes with some more goodies as well. Viewers can view Facebook videos on your smart television and get a real-time Twitter feed scrolling ticker-tape style at the bottom of the TV screen.
Another key feature is the ability for non-Sony laptops running windows 7 to fling web content to the Bravia TV. Sony said, “You can already use your smartphone or Vaio keyboard to control your TV and surf the web – and now you can use other laptops too. From typing a web address to searching for information about the latest movies, it makes entering text on-screen even easier than using your TV remote.”
Also of interest is a Shazam type from song-identifying Track IDÂ technology to recognise song titles and artist names played on the TV content or during ad breaks. The free update from Sony is only available for Bravia TV sets from the 2011 range though, if you have an older set, your out of luck.
You can grab the update tnow using your internet-connected TV, or via the USB port.
