Does the idea of watching Movies and Catchup TV services via your PS3, appeal to you? then you will be delighted to hear that Sony have plans to launch Catchup TV Service For The PS3 in the UK in October.

Sony’s announced at GamesCom in Germany this week that Sony will get another streaming film service called Mubi, which will also launch in October.

The service will appear on the XMB, alongside iPlayer and others.

Sony has also announced that the PS3 will also be getting additional Catchup TV and on demand services, such as ITV Player.

However, the agreement roumoured with Channel 4 to allow 4OD on the platform was not mentioned.

Access to the movie streaming service is via PlayTV’s crossbar. Mubi will also include a number of other features, such as a forum to discuss your favourite films, along with a rating system.

There will also be Ad supported subscription packages.

The Costing is still to be finalised, though Sony is promising an ad related subscription plan. We will of course bring you further news on that when we have it.

IPTV content agreements have been signed with providers in the UK, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany and Finland.

And finally, as an addition to the movie streaming service on PlayTV, Sony has also announced another new service called PlayTV Chat, with features like Facebook integration and live chat with your friends.
