Sky Go To Replace Sky Player and Sky Mobile TV

Satellite giant, Sky are rebranding their online TV players into a single entity for PC’s and mobile devices. The existing Sky Player and Sky Mobile TV will be merged to create the new Sky Go.

Sky Go streamlines Sky online services

The new service which will be free for subscribers will show a combo of live streaming and catch-up-tv. And the service will be streamed to a number of devices including mobile devices such as iPad and iPhone, tablets, smartphones and computers.

Apeaking about the new service, Stephen van Rooyen, Deputy MD of Sky’s Customer Group said:- “The explosion of smartphones and tablets demonstrates the increasing consumer demand for accessing entertainment and communicating on the move,”

He continued, “Clearly the consumer appetite is there, and it’s growing. In responding to that, and to create even more value, choice and flexibility for our customers, we are now going to offer online and mobile access to Sky content at no extra charge.”

Every subscriber can register and use two devices for mobile use. Computers can access the biggest selection (30) of live channels. Tablets and smartphones can view five stations including Sky Sports, ESPN and Sky News. If your not a Sky subscriber, you can still access Sky Go, from £15 per month.

The name Sky Player will be renamed for other devices to just “Sky”. Also revealed, was that Sky Go can be used on the public Wi-Fi network, The Cloud. Release date is 6th July.
