Sky Online TV Player Adds More Channels To Lineup
Satellite TV broadcaster, Sky have been busy expanding the lineup for its online TV catch-up service. By adding an additional three channels including Sky 1 and Sky Movies to Sky player, they increase the number of channels to 30 available to view on the net.
The Sky player allows subscribers to watch sky tv channels via the internet, plus it is also integrated into the Windows Media Center and in the Xbox 360 games console dashboard. The channel selection has always been a bit meagre with just a sprinkling of channels available, but with the addition of Sky One and the addition later this month of Sky Movies Premiere and Sky Movies Showcase the lineup becomes more formidable.
With the inclusion of the movie channels comes a selection of hit movies to watch online including Fast And Furious, The Boat That Rocked, I Love You Man and Knowing. It was also announced that viewers will have live channels from Living and Bravo to compliment the existing tv-on-demand content.
The Sky Player which is essentially a catch up tv service for existing Sky subscribers offers users around 500 movies to view online from Sky Movies and Sky Box Office, also live sports from Sky Sports, ESPN and Eurosport. Due to the restrictions of Sky being available on a single tv, the service also gives a multiscreen option.
The director of Sky On-demand Griff Parry said:- “Sky Player offers an unrivalled choice of live and on demand pay TV content, making it the natural destination for online viewing. It’s about providing people with the most convenient way to access the channels and programmes they enjoy.”
Director of Programmes at Sky1, Stuart Murphy said:- “We’re passionate about great TV and passionate about ensuring our viewers can access Sky1 where and when they choose. We’re delighted that we’re now able to offer the best of Sky1 on Sky Player TV.”
The service is free for current Sky TV subscribers and content is based on their subscription package, and for non Sky TV customers internet only subscriptions start from £15 per month for the services.
