SeeSaw Offer Rental Online TV Service
Catch up tv startup Seesaw, have announced an online tv on demand rental service with downloads available from 99p. The service launched in February currently offers over 3000 hours of free online tv content from the BBC, Channel 4 and Five. This will be the first time users have been able to pay to access premium content.
TV Shows available to buy are a selection of both old and new shows, from UK classic tv like Spooks, Fawlty Towers, Gavin and Stacey and Only Fools and Horses. SeeSaw also has deals in place with a number of US TV networks such as MTV & Comedy Central, so US content will also be available to rent.
The pricing structure will see each episode costing between 99p-£1.19 and whole series from £3.99-£17.99. Pricing will depend on factors such as the number of episodes in the series, and how recent it is. Series 5 of popular drama Lost is currently available to rent for £12.99, with single episodes priced at 99p.
Once ordered, shows are held for 30 days, but once viewing has started you will have 48 hours to view. For complete series the time is 90 days and 48 hours per episode to watch it all.
“Going forward, we are confident that our blend of free and premium programming will enhance the appeal of SeeSaw to both viewers and advertisers,” said chief executive of SeeSaw Pierre-Jean Sebert.
At this time only TV shows are available on the pay per view but SeeSaw are planning a selection of movies in the future.
