If you own a Samsung Smart TV in the UK, your catch-up options have just increased. Samsung have just launched the promised Channel 5 catch-up–TV service, Demand 5.
Users can download the app from the Smart TV App store from their Samsung TV set, just press the smart button. The service gives access to on-demand content from hit shows such as The Gadget Show, Neighbours and Home and Away.
Demand 5 is available for all 2011 and 2012 smart TV models from Samsung. Speaking about the app for Channel 5, Paul Thornton-Jones, Head of Digital Media said, “Samsung is a crucial element of our strategy as we look to bring our video-on-demand services to as many viewers as possible, across as broad a range of devices as possible. To do so, we’ve reoptimised the app for the big screen, ensuring that viewers get the best possible experience at home.”
Speaking for Samsung, Guy Kinnell, the UK TV/AV director said, “We want to bring our customers as many entertainment options as possible, so they can watch their favourite shows at the most convenient times for them. We’re satisfied that Demand 5 will make a superb addition to the Samsung Smart TV platform, and we’re delighted that our customers have the best catch-up choices around.”
The app joins other popular video apps and UK catchup services available from the Smart hub, including the ITV player, BBC iPlayer, as well as pay-TV services such as LoveFilm and Netflix.

“Demand 5 is available for all 2011″ smart tvs. I’m afraid not. It worked for a few days. Now it just shows the Samsung screen “New firmware is needed”.
Ditto thing is it still says New firmware is needed when I have upgraded the firmware.
Not going to bother fixing it because I oblect to the way we are meant to watch the same adds again and again.
I will dedicate a PC to my TV that way I can install an ad blocker in firefox
