Samsung To Build Google Powered Television Sets
TV Manufacturing giant, Samsung fresh from launching a new range of 3D tv sets are reportedly considering making a range of television sets that run the Google Android software platform, more commonly known as Google TV.
The android software lets viewers browse the net and download widgets that run on the TV set. These software apps would enable people to easily find and watch YouTube videos, monitor the stock market or enjoy other Internet-delivered media.
The report was published in the English-language Korea Herald newspaper. Samsung said:- “We are considering (developing) Google TVs. We are examining the business feasibility of Google TVs.”
Currently Sony are teaming up with Google and Intel to bring out internet-connected Android based home entertainment hardware. Still, it’ll be interesting to see how they go about making these TVs and seeing the types of things we’ll be able to do with them with Android running behind the glass.
