Russia Next For Hulu And Netflix Streaming?
Streaming video websites, Netflix and Hulu are said to be considering launching their Online TV and movie services in Russia, a Russian newspaper has revealed.
The report says that Hulu visited Moscow towards the end of 2011 and met up with Russian leading film studios and video services to discuss the possibility of launching their Online streaming services in the country. Hulu’s representative Johannes Larcher was there, he is the company’s senior vice president.
Hulu’s visit is to try to make sense of current state of the online video market in Russia, and assess the demand for advertising in online video and the existing services in the Russian market.
Hulu’s interest in by the county’s entry into the World Trade Organisation and the recent comScore research that suggests Russians view a lot more online video than many other European countries.
Hulu’s visit follows Nextflix’s similar fact-finding mission, which has also been reported to be testing the probability of Launching in Russia.
Netflix already have a presence in a number of countries that include Canada, Latin America and the recent launch in UK & Ireland. Hulu are said to be looking at launching on the international stage as well after some aborted attempts.Could Russia be the location of the next streaming battle?
