Roku are not resting on their laurels, but have been beavering away on the latest incarnation of their broadband set-top box. The spec details of the new Roku boxes have seen the light of day thanks to an FCC filing giving some details about the new media box.

The media box seems to be sleeker, resembling the Apple TV device and has added bluetooth capabilities a new RF remote. Each will also add a reset button, so that users no longer have to unplug the box if it somehow freezes up.

It also looks like playing games from your Roku may be on the cards as well. Recently Roku announced users would soon be able to play games like the popular Angry Birds on Roku. This may be a use for the bluetooth connection in allowing the box to connect to a games controller or phone/tablet.

Roku range had it’s last update late last year when 1080p HD streaming was added along with a USB port on the top end range XDS model. Looking at the new specs it does not seem good enough to upgrade if you already own a Roku box, the new update seems much less impressive, but there may be more features yet to be announced.
