RIM In Talks To Put Hulu Plus On Blackberry Playbook
The new Blackberry Playbook was dealt a blow earlier this werek when Hulu put a block on their free streaming service. But users may yet be in luck, as RIM (Research in Motion) are said to be in discussions with Hulu to bring Hulu Plus to the BlackBerry PlayBook.
Talking to PCMag, a spokesman for RIM said:- “We are in conversations with Hulu to bring the Hulu Plus subscription service to BlackBerry PlayBook users.”
The Playbook is a 7-inch BlackBerry tablet that marks RIM’s entry into the tablet market, boasting a 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, two high res cameras 3MP front and 5MP back and micro HDMI out. Impressive specs, but the reviews so far have been dire.
PlayBook owners had been enjoying Hulu access for several days after launch, until the block from free catch-up TV service Hulu. The move was not unexpected though as Hulu put the block on any non PC product.
Hulu only seem keen to supply the paid version Hulu Plus for cell phones, mobile devices, tablets and set-top boxes for $7.99/month. It was announced at the CES in January that Hulu Plus is coming to Android phones as well.
There are currently a select number of non PC devices that run Hulu, including the iPhone, iPad, Sony Bravia TV’s, and Sony Dash. The Plus service is the same as free but gives full seasons of TV shows and is ad free.
