Ricky Gervais Of ‘The Office’ Brings David Brent To Youtube

Hit TV show, The Office was originally created in the UK by Ricky Gervais, who played the embarrassingly over confident office manager David Brent. But ten years after hanging up his polyester suit, David Brent is back with his own Youtube channel.

David-Brent-The-OfficeThe comedy actor and stand-up comedian has partnered with YouTube to bring original material exclusively to the video sharing website’s original channel lineup. Content will include the David Brent character along with other material, sketches, interviews, pilots, outtakes and podcasts.

Talking about the Ricky Gervais Youtube Channel, the great man himself said, “To create, get final edit, and be the broadcaster is the ultimate artistic experience. This is why I have partnered with YouTube for original programming. And because of all that money they gave me too, obviously.”

Ricky becomes the highest profile channel yet for Youtube, who have invested around $100 million in new content channels in a bid to compete with internet TV rivals such as Netflix and Amazon.

Gervais who is currently starring in new comedy show Derek which has been picked up by Netflix, ontinued, “I am very excited to be working with a platform that is so instant and accessible. And to catch up with David Brent is going to be fantastic.”

Speaking for Youtube, Ben McOwen Wilson, head of content partnerships for Europe said,”Ricky Gerv ais already has a huge fan base on YouTube and they’ll be thrilled to see what he’s got up his sleeve including the next adventures with the infamous David Brent.”
