PSN Forced Offline For Longer
Sony have announced that technical issues and a potential team of hackers have resulted in the PlayStation Network (the online gaming and connection service for Sony Consoles such as the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Portable) has gone offline, and could continue to do so for ‘a full day or two’.
The company had earlier announced that their service (which also includes access to content viewing outlets such as BBC iPlayer and Netflix, amongst others), was progressing through a series of unscheduled maintenance projects, and would be back online as soon as possible.
Despite these claims, the PSN is still offline, and Sony are now claiming the errors to be the work of ‘targeted behaviour by an outside party’.
The company released an official statement on the PlayStation blog through their ‘Senior Director of Corporate Communications and Social Media’ Patrick Seybold: “While we are investigating the cause of the Network outage, we wanted to alert you that it may be a full day or two before we’re able to get the service completely back up and running. Thank you very much for your patience while we work to resolve this matter. Please stay tuned to this space for more details, and we’ll update you again as soon as we can.”
It is not the first time this month that the PSN (which features over 75m users) has encountered difficulties with their system this month, following an instance of several Sony websites went offline due to a suspected DDoS (distributed denial of service) attack.
According to previous Sony figures, there are more than 75 million registered PSN accounts in 59 countries across the world.

For first this is illgeal hacking wich is very very serious thing to do. Normal hacking is not so serious but still a bit bad. I buy my PS3′s new and after about 3 or 4 months they can’t read the disc, So it gets sent bk to sony and sony send me a different one, And then that brakes 3 months later lol, So the same shit happens again they send me a new one lol And that brakes just after the warranty runs out

It is painfully obvious that Sony doesn’t care about communicating openly to all of their victims of their lacking security measures concerning critically vital data that Sony is liable for putting at risk. It was known as far back as January 2010 that compromises had been made to their online security that could not be fixed with by anything short of a hardware replacement. Sony has much work ahead of them just to prove to it’s victims that it is going to be safe once again to trust Sony with handling security prevention adequately. It therefore, brings question to why they think they should be utilizing software to correct this problem when it can only occur again without them having to replace all ps3 hardware currently in use by more than 75million+ worldwide. They are using a band-aid to fix a broken back. Sony needs to either replace all units worldwide by a recall, or face being liable for full refunds on all ps3 consoles and game downloads or purchases made by consumers since the first sales of their deficient systems. It’s just a matter of time before a class-action lawsuit is made on behalf of all it’s consumers.

Well, it’s now the 14th of May and still no PSN. Kinda figured it’d be much longer than most people guessed it would be. Stop holding you’re breath for it to be anytime soon. I’m not mad at Sony for getting hacked by a bunch of low-life’s and cowards, but I don’t like it when they already knew that the system was compromised and still kept on doing buisiness as usual. They knew back many months before that it was possible for someone to attack their systems and did nothing but sit back and wait until it occurred. This is all damage control mode for them now. Why do you think they are being so tight-lipped about the whole thing. They ALLOWED IT TO HAPPEN! Their lawyers are pulling all their hair out trying to figure some way that they can’t be held responsible for their negligence. But so far, they haven’t found any reason to truly say that they aren’t liable. Suck it up people, it may still yet be a long time before they have a true way of securing their online service and it will cost Sony dearly every day. The sooner they issue a recall and replace all units worldwide and replace their server systems and software, the sooner we can all get back to a real sense of security for both sides of the issue.
i think sony should give people back there money for this dumb outage that they could have handled a very long time ago and they are so dumb that they are loseing billons and costumer for something they could have fixed in two days now they really feel dumb and will take evert threat serously i hope thank sony for being dumb fat and lazy you bumz!!!!!!!!!

Looks like we are back online as of early this morning. Let’s see how long it is before Sony gets hacked again. Just a matter of time. My advice is DON’T LINK YOUR CREDIT CARD TO YOUR ACCOUNT!!! And don’t use the same password that you may use for anything else!!!
