Piracy Culprits Get Six Warnings Then Kicked Off By ISPs
A new agreement by ISP’s mean that users found downloading pirated movies, TV shows and music will get a series of telling off’s designed to educate rather than punish. But could ultimately have internet access withdrawn.

Amongst the big hitting ISP’s are AT&T, Verizon and Comcast who promise to send up to six electronic alerts to customers whose accounts are suspected of illegally downloading or distributing content.
The program which was launched with film and music industry groups, is targeting users of file sharing P2P networks that lets users share pirated material.
The Internet service providers will tell users about possible consequences if they are repeatedly warned about piracy. Measures could include reduced Internet speeds.
ISP’s can also limit internet access until the subscriber in question reviews “educational information” about copyright theft.
Speaking for Verizon, General Counsel Randal Milch said the agreement is “designed to notify and educate customers, not to penalize them.” with a hopeful conclusion that they get their media from “the many legal sources that exist.”
