Panasonic Open Up TV App Development Portal
The Panasonic range of Viera connected TV sets may soon get a flood of new TV apps after the company opened a development portal for coders to get their teeth into. The Japanese electronic giant say that the new portal provides, “all the necessary documentation, application guidelines, major components platform features for delivering rich multimedia apps for the Viera connect platform”.
All amateur developers wanting to get in on the app action beware though, to become a member requires an annual fee of $129 for basic or $599 for the Premium package. The difference? More expensive gives customer technical support.
Also, unlike the Android market, Panasonic only want quality apps. They want, “content which will enrich the TV experience”, especially “video, music, sports, games, social networking, news and lifestyle, and healthcare and fitness”.
