Netflix are pumping out original TV shows at a great rate of knots lately, and the latest (fourth) series to get a confirmed launch date is the comedy-drama called, Orange is the New Black which launches on July 11.
The show is based on the memoirs of Piper Kerman and tells of a Brooklyn woman, Piper Chapman (played by Taylor Schilling) who due to a previous relationship with drug-runner Alex (Laura Prepon) finds herself punished and locked up in prison for a year.
She is issued the standard prison issue orange jumpsuit, and she has to immerse herself in prison culture, integrate with the inmates and question her life outside.
The show which is 13 episodes long is Produced by Lionsgate Television, and also stars Tayrn Manning, Natasha Lyonne, Kate Mulgrew, Pablo Schreiber, Daniel Brooks and Laverne Cox.
As is the custom nowadays, all the episodes will be available on launch date just like previous original series, House Of Cards and Hemlock Grove. And for Netflix subscribers who cannot get enough of original series, Arrested Development will be released in May.
