Optus 3G Mobile Customers Can Record TV In The Cloud

If your in Australia and are a customer of Optus 3G mobile then you can now record, schedule and play TV in the cloud, for later playback on a 3G phone or PC. The service is free for the first 45 minutes of recording but then costs.

The service is available for users in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth and the choice of TV comes from the 15 free-to-air TV channels.

For five hours the cost is $6.99 monthly and for 20 hours the cost is $9.99. Users need to download an EPG (electronic program guide) to their mobile from the Optus website. Recorded material is available for 30 days and then deleted.

The service works on most phones that are 3G enabled, except Windows Phone 7. The service comes as a downloadable app on iPhone and as a web interface on PC and Android.
