As half of the civilised world seems to have watched the inauguration of Barack Obama. And lets face it the guy has done well, the first African American President of the USA. But if you happened to watch it on Youtube or want to re-watch on youtube then your in for a treat. You can download said video to your hard drive and watch it over and over until your eyes bleed.

Youtube have now included (on certain video’s only) the option to download it to your PC/phone/mobile device/hardware browser for safe keeping. We have not had anything official from the world’s top video website but if you view Barack Obama’s YouTube channel you will see an extra link at the bottom of the video reading ‘Click to download’ allowing you to download Obama to your hard drive.

To many people of course, this is not very exciting news as the ability to download Youtube videos is available in a selection of browser add ons and software downloads. Even websites dedicated to downloading and saving videos to your PC. YouTube has not allowed direct downloading from it’s site but just to stream the videos so you need to revisit the YouTube site for every viewing. This makes perfect sense as more visitors equal more advertising revenue.

However do not expect a download button on every video after the historic conflicts between movie studios, TV companies and YouTube itself.

Obama of course may not have been the most exciting first offering. Now if there are any hot video’s to download i may be interested
