DVD by mail giant Netflix have revealed they are going to offer an Online Movies Only service to cater for the growing interest and demand in internet Viewing.

Netflix spokesman Barry McCarthy said:- “We are likely to do that in the foreseeable future.

He also said that they will continue focusing on selling bundled online and by mail DVD’s. However, he understands that some people will prefer the online streaming option, particularly as there are more and more devices supporting streaming coming to market.

Netflix have been offering an on demand internet movie service to existing subscribers of its DVD by mail rental service for over a year. Netflix subscribers can pay a small additional fee to watch unlimited movies online or see an hour of streams for every dollar spent on rentals.

The service has also found its way to Microsoft’s Xbox games machine, TiVo and other set top boxes. Currently available are over 12000 movies and TV shows available to its 10 million plus subscribers.

After very successful quarterly results, much of which were attributed to the online streaming service and its growing popularity on Xbox. Microsoft have revealed that over 1 million subscribers of the Xbox Live online service have used the Netflix application and viewed 25 million hours of online streams since service launch in November 2008.

It does seem that everyone and there dog wants in on the internet tv market and Netflix are expected to be at the forefront
