Netflix Streaming Hitting UK & Spain First In European Expansion
The Netflix international rollout is said to be heading to Europe, with the UK and Spain first on the hitlist. The streaming service are looking to launch in Spain and Britain during the first months of 2012, say people in the know.
Netflix looking to Europe for expansion
The move will be a precursor to launching in more European countries and the Asia region. Chief Executive Officer of Netflix, Reed Hastings also announced that international expansions are likely to play a major part in the company’s overall growth in the years to come.
Netflix are riding on the success made in the US and Canada where they have 25 million plus subscribers. But experts predict the growth will now slow, especially after the price rises for streaming and DVD rentals.
Netflix have been expanding with global operations starting in Latin America. The move to Spain has been questioned though, as it is a hotbed of piracy with over 400 million illegal downloads per year. It is listed on the International Intellectual Property Alliance’s Watchlist of piracy offender.

Considering all we have in the UK that is serious about online streaming are Apple and maybe Lovefilm. I cannot wait to get my hands on a Netflix account.
