Netflix Secure Oscar Nomination For The Square

Not content with just Emmy’s and Golden Globe awards, it looks like Netflix want to go for the Big one, an Oscar. And now a Netflix backed documentary has managed to secure that all elusive oscar nomination.

The film was backed by Netflix after the critically acclaim ed documentary won awards at both the Toronto International Film Festival, and the Sundance Film Festival in 2013. It can be simultaneously streamed on Netflix from Friday as well as being screened in selected cinemas.

Netflix are getting used to busting out the tux for award ceremonies, they made history last year when the won a first ever Emmy for an online show, and followed that up with a Golden Globe for political drama, House of Cards.
