Netflix jumping aboard the internet TV bandwagon
Netflix are offering Net Flix
Netflix the DVD rental firm based in the USA and having a very internet based name is offering an internet tv and movie download service. The company specialising in the postal DVD rental business has seen the light and is finally offering an online tv rental of a selection of titles.
Existing subscribers can download movies and other programmes over the net for free. 
This ‘online dvd rental’ of movies films and television is limited to a selection of around 1,000 plus titles (expanding to 5,000 later this year) and is available to a select few subscribers. Netflix long term aim is of course to rent movies straight to your living room negating the need for costly postal charges and lost items etc. Because internet tv and pc development is growing so rapidly this service that wasnt technically possible is now the main focus of many companies plans.
Netflix currently offers a video streaming service to its customers via PC only, with more devices and mobile phones being connected. Currently over 10 million movies and TV episodes have been watched using the service.
Apple is also reportedly preparing to launch an online movie rental service, which could boost its own TV set-top box.
So come on Blockbuster, when are you gonna catch up?
