Netflix iPad App Gets A Facelift
A month after Android tablet owners got a taste of the all new Android Netflix app, an update of the original iPad app has finally been launched for Apple’s tablet – giving iPad users a taste of the slick new interface.
The new Netflix 2.0 app has been created so tablet users can, “more easily discover the content they want to watch”. It follows the same lines as the Android version and gives more visibility showing more movies on the screen using much bigger icons. Say Netflix, “The new interface displays twice as many movies and TV shows as before, enabling you to discover even more titles you’ll love.”
There is also now the option to continue watching shows just where you had to leave them using the Continue Watching carousel, this shows the viewer thumbnails of the previous six shows watched giving you the option to resume.
Different genres and categories can also be easily searched so you can find the movie, TV show or sports event you are looking for easier. Good news for Netflix Latin American viewers is that the app can be downloaded in that area as well.
Speaking about the app, Zal Bilimoria the Netflix Product Manager said, “The new app is really a big step forward; it is much more immersive and provides greater focus on our growing catalog by displaying twice as many titles than the previous interface. In addition, through optimization for touch-enabled tablets, Netflix members can now swipe through rows and rows of titles featuring larger artwork.”
It is a big leap forward from the old app and better optimized for the bigger touch screen, but iPhone and iPod Touch owners are still stuck with it for now. The new app can be downloaded from the app store now.
