Netflix HD Selection Lets Viewers Choose From Over 1000 HD Titles
Everyone loves HD movies and shows these days, just ask Netflix. Back in June When Netflix launched its HD section, we were impressed that the channel’s launch included over 650 titles. Now Four Months later and Netflix has added around 500 new titles to its HD inventory.
The total amount that Netflix has added is 1144, this is based on a total of 38 screens of movies having a total of 30 movie a page, plus the last screen which has 4, although Netflix could possibly be adding some duplicates and maybe some non HD content, but we’re not really sure.
This mix of movies and TV shows is not totally filled to the top with movies that you would like to watch, but if the ones that you do want to watch don’t look great in 720p. That said, especially on the TV series side there is plenty to keep you HD engaged with, including Battlestar Galactica, 30 Rock, The Office and others.
This HD section of Netflix, for a number of reasons is important. Firstly, all the content on Hulu pretty much maxes out at 480p, so 1 for Netflix here. Secondly, with the amount of device integrations there are with Netflix, a lot of them have hi-def screens and devices and those extra resolution can go a long way.
Its a job well done for Netflix and here is hoping they keep expanding the selection, and hopefully at the current pace of around 125 new titles per month, i will not run out of high def movies to watch anytime soon.

I am currently on the NetFlix trial, and the selection is horrible. I don’t even know why they have a “New Arrival” section because I’ve been signed up for 3 weeks and they haven’t added a single movie. I’ve watched anything I wanted to see within a week and I will be canceling my trial membership once it is expired next week. Maybe in a few months they will have a better selection. I highly recommend everyone check out rogersvideodirect
Rogersvideodirect is what I’ve been using for over a year and I love it. They send you movies right to your door step. Then they give you an envelope and you just drop it in the post box. You don’t have to pay for the postage either. The envelope is prepaid postage. They have every movie there is and you build a “zip list” which is movies you want to rent and they send you movies from that. It can cost as little as I think 8.99 a month. I have the $20 plan and that gives me 2 movies out at a time for as long as I want. You can rent extra movies for a charge smaller than the movie store. You can really get a lot out of your buck at the website if you keep returning your movies, because soon as you click returned on the site they will send you new ones that day! Sometimes I get 4 in a week.
How can you compare a DVD delivery service to online movie services. If you want to watch Bounr Identity, then you don’t want to wait 2-3 days for a DVD, you wanna stick it on when you sit by the tube.
I couldn’t find a complete list of everything available on Netflix, so I’ve just created a blog where I’ll keep the current Netflix Canada list updated (I’ve got a few “shortcuts” that will help me keep it updated). If I had access to the U.S. site (or an American Netflix subscriber interested in helping), I could get the U.S. list going as well.
Take a look and let me know if it’s useful to you.
